Update: Thursday 20th Jan

Clevedon Loop | Friday 21st Jan 2022

The weather is looking great for our first ride out. Looking forward to seeing everybody there. Remember to bring your layers. It will be colder in Clevedon than Bristol by the sea.

The meeting point is the wooden shelter on White Tree Roundabout we’ll be setting off at 9.30 am

The Clevedon Loop Route

Leaving the downs we head downhill into Sea Mills and past the golf course into Shirehapmton. From there is a quick hop over the bridge and onto the cycle track behind the car lots at Portbury. Not a true “roady” route but this quiet strip gives a chance to ride 2×2 and chat.

We turn right into the nature reserve, just because it’s pretty and continues the chance to talk and prepare for the first big hill.

Quickly through Portishead and turning right on the high street for the long climb up Nore Road overlooking Walton Bay then one short sharp hill between the football fields before dropping into Clevedon for cakes and coffee at Tiffins tea rooms.

Once recharged we leave Clevedon behind the water treatment and head to Nailsea. Pretty flat for most of this we nice quiet roads and countryside views. Out of Nailsea towards Wraxall before turning right and heading through Long Ashton. We’ve still managed to avoid any hills at this point so it’s a steep and quick climb through Ashton Court from the mansion house to the bridge entrance.

To finish our ride we cross the Suspension Bridge, and just before Bristol Zoo turn left to head across Ladies Mile and Saville Road back to our meeting point.
